It may be the holidays but it's all go here at Waikanae Scout Group. On Thursday evening the Air Scout troop invited the Group to come along and sew for the Healing Hearts project organised by Scout parent Irma Huth. The sewn hearts were delivered to Irma on Friday and she was delighted with our efforts. You can find out more about her project here.
Not content to rest up, the Air Scouts helped out the RSA by selling poppies outside two local supermarkets in Waikanae. It was a very cold Friday evening, but they stuck it out, and then Saturday morning saw them out again. Always willing to help, they also arranged to cover the Air Cadets for an hour so they could get a break from their own poppy duties.
But wait, there's more! If you're at a loose end over the Easter holidays on Wednesday afternoon there will be an Easter Egg Hunt and Disco at the Scout Hall. For ages up to ten, we'll have music, lollies, glow gear, food and dancing. For only $2.00 entry, it'll be heaps of fun!
Don't forget to look out for the Scouts on Saturday at the Easter Market in Waikanae, we'll be running our sausage sizzle in the market, and running a raffle to win a load of firewood.
All our Keas, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers will also be on parade on ANZAC day in Waikanae at the Memorial Hall. As usual we will be helping the RSA set up the hall and tidy up after the service.
...did someone say 'holiday?!'
